One of my favorite things about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was Australian actress Isabel Lucas' as the bad-ass Terminator style shape-shifting robot Alice.

Here's a clip from one of the bonus features on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DVD that looks a little at the VFX behind what went into Alice's transformation. Unfortunately you don't get to see Isabel Lucas and the feature is way too short, so I've added the photo above to make up for it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the third highest grossing film of 2009 worldwide ($832M), and the top grossing film of 2009 at the domestic U.S.box office ($402M).

Paramount Home Entertainment released it on DVD and Blu-ray on October 20 and within a week it became the top selling release of the year (7.5M units sold).

Those are some pretty amazing statistics considering Rotten Tomatoes has it rated at 19% and more than 71,000 voters average it out at 6.2 on the IMDB.

Critics, reviewers and bloggers alike seem to be, for the most part, in agreement that the film sucks arse. For all of these reasons, and because I personally thought Transformers was a turd in disguise, I refused to head to the theater to see the film. I even thought I'd give it a miss on DVD until I contracted Swine Flu and in a moment of sick misery thought, "ah, what the hell, I'm in the mood for a shit film."

But the truth is, it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. In fact, I kind of enjoyed the overall experience of watching it.

Here's a deleted scene from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.  I can see why it was deleted, although it would have been nice if they'd manage to keep the Isabel Lucas scenes in the film.  Oh well, we get them now at least.

When I think about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen I think about crazy ILM visual effects and the hotness of Megan Fox.  However, when I watch the following clip I notice (apart from Megan Fox) the sound effects. Love or hate the film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has mega-cool sound.

Spike TV's 2009 Scream Awards played out on Saturday, October 17, honoring achievements in science fiction, fantasy and horror.  These are awesome awards that make a mockery of both the Oscar's and the Emmy's, so good job Spike TV!

The big wins this year go to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, followed by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, then Twilight and True Blood.

There was a downside though. In what I consider to be worthy of the Ultimate Turd Award, William Shatner stepped up to accept the Ultimate Scream award for Star Trek. Honestly, the guy didn't star in it and admits to having never seen the film.  He's been nothing but disrespectful to the whole thing, so why he was given the opportunity to allow his ego to steal anyone else's thunder is beyond me.  To make matters worse, listen to what his all-mighty-bloatedness had to say:

"J.J., I’ll handle this. This movie was big. Imagine how big it could have been with me in it? … I’ll be waiting for your call."

Clearly everyone was in on the "surprise", but personally I found this moment to be a mockery of a great film.
