mcg admits terminator salvation mistakes 69341 470 75 McG admits Terminator Salvation mistakes Regrets, TF's had a few. But even though we like to do things our way, we're not above admitting when we were wrong. Seems McG has the same life philosophy.  “I feel like we did a lot right with Terminator and I feel like we did a lot wrong,” the This Means War director told Collider.com.  “I really tried to deliver and do the best I could with making that film. It worked for a lot of people. A lot of people didn't like the ending. You live and learn.”  Does he think he killed the Terminator series?  “I love the Terminator franchise. I hope they make another one. We'll see where that takes us,” he said.  Hang on, where's all this coming from? Surely he's not angling to do a director's cut of Salvation?  “We did the best we could. I poured everything I had into that picture. Yeah, there's some outstanding footage out there and we'll see if there's a director's release to come in the future. You never know. Time will tell.”  We're channelling Anakin Skywalker from the recently effed up Return Of The Jedi when we say: “Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!” mf McG admits Terminator Salvation mistakes

arnold schwarzenegger 03 470 75 Schwarzenegger offered new Terminator and Predator films

He said he’d be back, and now that Governor Schwarzenegger has hung up his politics hat, he’s seriously considering how he’s going to return to the movies.

During an interview given at the Arnold Seminar yesterday (yes, such a wondrous thing exists), the Austrian Oak revealed that he’s currently considering around 15 film offers, which include returns to his most famous franchises.

“Well, first of all it's more 15 films,” he reveals, “obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man and all of those things.”

Arnie then went on to state that he’s also considering “a lot of original stuff” as well, though he’s currently working on bringing a comic book character to the screen.

“I am also packaging a comic book character right now,” he says. “I'm going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April.”

Just which comic character that will be remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an exciting prospect. Arnie, it’s good to have you back.

writer reveals terminator 5 6 story ideas 00 470 75 Terminator franchise could be resurrected by Justin Lin

The Terminator could finally be back. If Universal have anything to do with it, that is.

After reports last year that the rights to the Terminator franchise, long in contention, went to Pacificor for $ 29.5m, Universal are looking to approach the company about resurrecting the franchise with director Justin Lin at the helm.

After McG took an underwhelming stab at the series in 2009 with Terminator Salvation, the future of the franchise looked uncertain. While McG has always been keen on creating a trilogy, it seems that has now officially fallen into the gutter.

Sad, because his ideas for bringing Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick back into the mix sounded relatively interesting – even if Salvation left much to be desired.

Most interestingly is the possibility that Lin, best known for his work on the Fast And Furious films, could be working from the awesome-sounding script treatments by James Cameron collaborator William Wisher. He'd be crazy not to.

As any fans of the first two Terminator films will know, the future is never certain. Let's see where this road takes us.

Joss Whedon

Following Joss Whedon's insult to the rights owners of the Terminator franchise, EW took the initiative to pick up the telephone to ask him: What the?

His response was a lot of blah blah about how he wasn't slamming Terminator and, amazingly, that he's serious about the $10,000 offer to buy the rights whilst confirming that he's not serious that such an offer will result in anything (no shit Sherlock).

But I can at least agree with him on what his open letter was mostly about:

“But mostly, it’s just me being a dumb-ass, because that seems to be what I do best — I’m not even very good at that. So, no, I do not think they’re going to call me and say ‘Congratulations! We’ll have that $10,000 now.’"

Yep, that's the long and the short of it.

You can read his full statement at EW.

Joss Whedon

Yesterday news surfaced that the rights to the Terminator franchise were up for auction. The reason for the sale relates to financial difficulties being suffered by Derek Anderson’s and Victor Kubicek’s Halcyon, the current rights owners.

Now Joss Whedon, the brains behind the brilliant Firefly and the turd Dollhouse, has posted online an open letter to the rights owners offering a faux bid of $10,000, although how faux it would be if they would actually sell it to him for that insulting sum is obviously open to question.

The full transcript of the letter is after the jump.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Looks like Derek Anderson's and Victor Kubicek's Halcyon, the production company behind Terminator Salvation and 13 episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, are going to auction off their rights to the Terminator franchise.

The move, reported by FT.com, follows months of financial instability for the company that saw them on the verge of closing down at the beginning of September, before during a Los Angeles bankruptcy hearing Judge Ernest Robles granted them enough concessions to continue operating whilst they sought financial assistance. They then engaged financial advisory firm FTI Capital Advisors who are now in charge of handling the sale.

Even though Halcyon purchased the rights for only $25M two years ago, FTI expect to net more than they did for the rights to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which they sold for $60M.

Whoever makes the highest bid score the rights to make new Terminator films, new TV series any other spin-offs that they want.

Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton 1:2 Scale Replica

Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton 1:2 Scale Replica (click to enlarge)

This Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton 1:2 Scale Replica definitely classifies as a cool toy, although serious collectors will probably bite my head off for calling it a toy.

Only 500 of these half-size version Terminator's were ever made.  They're based on the T-800 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day and if you want one it's bad luck, they're all sold.  Well nearly.

There's one up for sale on Ebay. It'll set you back $2,500 or whatever you offer that's close enough to impress the seller.

Interested? Then go here: Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton 1:2 Scale Replica
