Kick-Ass

Couldn’t make it over to San Diego for this year’s Comic Con? Fear not, you can get the same experience – or near enough – right here in London next April.

Kapow! Comic Con is kicking off at the London Business Design Centre on the weekend of 9 April for an entire two days dedicated to the very best of comic book films, TV shows and games.

And just to prove that this won’t be a pale imitation of the San Diego event, Kapow! promises some brilliant guest stars.

CLiNT contributors Frankie Boyle, Stewart Lee and Noel Clarke will all be taking part in panel discussions. Meanwhile, John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Frank Quitely (Batman), Leinil Yu (Secret Invasion), Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates, The Authority) and Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Civil War) will all be about signing autographs and giving exclusive sneak peeks of upcoming works.

Then there will be the first ever Stan Lee Awards. “This is a fantastic platform to reward the cream of comic book talent for all their creativity and imagination throughout 2010, which has brought us so much entertainment and inspiration,” says Lee himself.

Tickets for the event are now available to buy online at the Kapow! official website.

The first humorous teaser trailer for director Matthew Vaughn's highly anticipated Kick-Ass has arrived.

Kick Ass is based on the comic book of the same name that follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who lives alone with his father. Dave’s life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming, however one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training. Before long he is joined by three more would-be superheroes.

Test screenings for this film have gathered rave reviews.

You can check out the Kick-Ass character posters here.

Expect it April 16, 2010.

Kick Ass movie posters combined

Four character posters have been released for director Matthew Vaughn's Kick Ass via IGN. All four combine to read 'Kick Ass' (above, click to enlarge).

I like that the actors names do not appear on the posters, although I wonder if that will hinder rather than help the film's marketing. Then again, Nicolas Cage is one of the actors, so you know, maybe the marketing guru's know what they're doing (I shouldn't say that, I did enjoy Knowing).

All four individual posters together with character summaries are after the jump.
