castleWell, it looks like Detective Kate Beckett is going to have an incredibly quick recovery for someone who took a bullet to the chest. A few behind the scenes pictures taken by fans hit the internet today and it seems like Beckett is back to kicking some serious butt and investigating murders.

It is also interesting that her hair style is back to super straight, which seems to be a throwback to early season 3. I wonder if that change in her hair style was on purpose; if it is, I wonder what it could possibly mean.

Something I am curious about is how much time will have passed since the day she got shot until episode 4.02 “Heroes and Villains”. Let’s not forget that this is the superhero episode the cast teased about during the Comic-Con, so it will most likely come as a breather after the intense season 4 premiere “Rise”. I am sure there will be a significant time jump – after all, no one recovers from a gunshot wound to the chest in just a few weeks – and I also wonder how long they will have been dealing with new Captain Victoria Gates by then.

Only seven weeks to go, my fellow Castle fans. Only seven weeks. Go ahead and take a look at the gallery below. Credit goes to tvfangal060708’s Tumblr. Let me know your name and I’ll give you proper credit for the photos.

BURBANK, Calif. (December 10, 2010) — Do you believe in heroes? If so, The CW’s hit series “Smallville” (Fridays, 8:00–9:00 p.m. ET/PT) wants to hear from you. Fans of “Smallville,” from Warner Bros. • In the episode “Beacon,” to be broadcast on Friday, February 4, Clark (series star Tom Welling) is at an emotional crossroads, with Metropolis divided by a clash between supporters of the government’s Vigilante Registration Act and opposing rallies to generate support for indispensable heroes like The Blur.

One of these videos could be yours!
  • And this is where “Smallville” fans come in!

Here’s how it works:

  • Beginning Friday, December 10, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and continuing through Monday, December 20, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, “Smallville” fans can submit their own video testimonial as one of these hopeful citizens by uploading videos to The CW’s official website at http://www.cwtv.com/Smallville

Having watched the pilot episode of ABC's No Ordinary Family, I can say this: the best part of the show is also the most distracting.

No new series this fall (or in recent memory) boasts such a strong, familiar cast. But that's actually a problem throughout the first hour, as viewers aren't yet affiliated enough with the characters to recognize the actors as anyone except who they previously played.

In almost every scene, I couldn't help but think: Hey, Vic Mackey from The Shield is kissing Rita from Dexter! That's Lizzie from Entourage! Go back to selling pot, Conrad from Weeds!

Over the course of watching No Ordinary Family, we'll start to connect stars Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz, Autumn Reeser and Romany Malco with their new identities. Being a huge fan of each, I'm excited for this to happen - but, for one episode at least, it's a strange feeling to see so many well-known faces in one place.

Scene from the Pilot

The premise of No Ordinary Family is simple: a father, mother and their two kids acquire super-human abilities as the result of a plane crash. The series wastes no time setting up this development, as we meet the Powells in their kitchen; watch them quickly banter about a trip to Brazil; and then are quickly transported on to the doomed flight.

For obvious reasons, the show has been compared to The Incredibles and Heroes, but there's a noticeable difference from the latter: tone.

Almost as soon as characters on Heroes discovered their powers, these traits became a burden. I don't think Peter Petrelli smiled once in the final three seasons of that show. The opposite couldn't be more true in this case.

The most fun part of the series premiere is watching Chiklis' Jim (a police department sketch artist) work with Malco's George (a district attorney) to determine just what kind of abilities he possesses. As pictured above, Jim takes pure joy in learning that he finally has the chance to be special and help people, issues that have plagued him in his marriage over the past few years.

That's because he's watched as wife Stephanie (Benz) has reached the top of her field as a research scientist, while Jim's career as an artist never took off. Stephanie, meanwhile, can't find enough time in her day to be the ideal wife, mother and employee - until she discovers her power of super speed.

Like her husband, Stephanie is thrilled with the ability. It enables her to race from the lab to her living room, where she can help dim-witted son J.J. with his homework.

Eventually, Stephanie and Jim's children - J.J. and Daphne - also experience changes as a result of the plane crash, but the show remains grounded in real life issues. For example, upon first learning she can pull a Sookie Stackhouse (read people's minds), Daphne complains that high school is already hard enough without adding this trait to the equation.

It will be interesting to see how the show balances typical teenage dilemmas (Daphne also doesn't feel ready for sex) with such a supernatural concept. Will the family fight crime together? Use their abilities in more everyday situations? A combination of both?

Jim is clearly leaning toward the crime-fighting angle, as a scene late in the premiere actually caused me to gasp out loud. I was thoroughly surprised by a development I won't spoil here.

Overall, this is a light-hearted drama heavy on both light and heart. It almost needs to take itself a bit more seriously in order for the viewer to feel invested; while it borders on cheesy every time Jim talks about his family (don't play a drinking game involving that word in particular; you'll be passed out before the second commercial break).

Jim and Stephanie also do their talking directly to the camera at times, a gimmick I hope goes away soon.

But No Ordinary Family definitely feels different than anything else on television and, with a cast like this, is well worth a few viewings before deciding whether or not to give it Series Recording status on your DVR.

Condoleezza Rice: A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me

41kXChzL5oL. SL160 No Ordinary Family Review: Good, Not Great

In this captivating memoir for young readers, looking back with candor and affection, Condoleezza Rice evokes in rich detail her remarkable childhood.
Her life began in the comparatively placid 1950s in Birmingham, Alabama, where black people lived in a segregated parallel universe to their white neighbors. She grew up during the violent and shocking 1960s, when bloodshed became a part of daily life in the South. Rice’s portrait of her parents, John and Angelena, highlights their ambitions

Adrian Pasdar aka Nathan Petrelli in 'Heroes'

Adrian Pasdar aka Nathan Petrelli in 'Heroes'

The internet is buzzing with the news that Adrian Pasdar (aka Nathan Petrelli) is exiting Heroes. Inside sources apparently told TV Guide that NBC have let Pasdar go, although NBC have refused to comment on their story.

Sites all over the web are now posting that the "shocking death" on this season of Heroes is the death of Nathan Petrelli. What the? His shocking death was last season! Pasdar has merely been playing Sylar's shapeshifted and brainwiped version of himself and, given that, obviously such a scenario can only be temporary. Not only that, but after being shot by a hitman and buried, and with Sylar subsequently crawling out of the grave, it seemed a fairly obvious statement to me that not only is Nathan Petrelli as a character done for, but so to is Pasdar's role (aside from the odd shapeshifting).

Yes it may be disappointing to some fans to hear that Adrian Pasdar has been fully let go (if it turns out to be something other than a rumor), but I hardly think this news qualifies as a "shocking death" on Heroes this season.

I'm still betting the major death will be Hiro.

Future Hiro was cool, Present Hiro must die

Future Hiro was cool, Present Hiro must die

It's been talked about for a long time so it's not really a big secret at all - a major character is going to die during this season of Heroes.

The latest news is that it will be a male character, which will disappoint all those cheerleader haters out there.

Personally I think it's fairly obviously going to be Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka).  Firstly, they've been talking about the fact that he's been dying for some time.  Episode by episode they keep referring to the fact that the more he uses his time travel powers, the closer he gets to death. Oka has also hinted at his death in interviews. Surely the writing is on the wall for Hiro.

Realistically, if Hiro doesn't die, then all the lead up has been a complete waste of viewer time and, more so, he's just gotta go - Hiro is one of the worst characters in the series.  He's annoying, childish and completely unbelievable.  As soon as he walks on screen stupid music plays, stupid things happen.  He's stupid.

Heroes S04E05 Hysterical Blindness starts the redemption

Hayden Panettiere in Heroes S04E05 Hysterical Blindness

Okay I'm just going to come right out and say it.  The latest episode of Heroes, S04E05 'Hysterical Blindness', was pretty good and easily the best episode so far this season.

All the talk about that lesbian kiss between actress Madeline Zima and Hayden Panettiere left me certain this was going to be another awful episode with a moment of girl-on-girl shock value action to try and redeem itself, but that wasn't the case.  The kiss was portrayed in a kind of fitting way, and it was fleeting enough that there wasn't any time to really dwell on it.  Most of all, the guesswork the writers have thrown in about Zima's character Gretchen is beginning to shine.  Is she a good gal, or a bad? I have no idea, and that's good.

Heroes Season 3 DVD outselling Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2

Heroes Season 3 DVD outselling Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2

How's this for an absurd DVD sales statistic: Heroes Season 3 is outselling Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2.

This week TSCC sold $2.032M, lagging just behind Heroes' $2.089M.

Despite the apparent neck and neck nature of those numbers, it wasn't really a close finish. In context, this is the fifth week of release for Heroes, whilst Terminator is in only its second.

Madeline Zima kisses Hayden Panettiere on 'Heroes'

Madeline Zima kisses Hayden Panettiere on 'Heroes'

I'm kind of amazed at just how much coverage Heroes is receiving over a single kissing scene between actress Madeline Zima and Hayden Panettiere. It seems everywhere I turn there it is, leading me to believe that either people haven't realized what typing "lesbian" into a Google image search can do, or are just simply more interested in these two actresses in particular.

Assuming it's the latter, I thought you might be interested in hearing what Madeline Zima thought about this absurdly popular kissing scene.

Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) wonders why his Season 3 death didn't free him from the crap machine 'Heroes' has become

I've been struggling with Heroes since the beginning of season two.  The show has simply never found the greatness it exhibited in the first season.  In fact, I'll go as far as to say that Heroes sits firmly in my mind as the show that completely screwed itself worse than any other show in history.

Heroes season 4 is about redemption, but there's nothing redeeming about it.  Sure, 'Acceptance' was definitely the best episode yet this season, but unfortunately that only means it wasn't as crap as the first three episodes.

If you think I'm being a bit harsh, let me put this episode in perspective.  The primary storyline follows Hiro (Masi Oka) as he pushes himself closer to death by using his time traveling power to save a guy who can't stop photocopying his ass.

Seriously, do I need to write any more.
