What Dexter does for a holiday...

Dexter S04E04 'Dex Takes a Holiday' has been and gone, leaving another seven days until more Dexter.  It's a long wait.

Whilst Stargate Universe is definitely clutching at it, I'm going to have to go with Dexter as my favorite television show.

The bad news is there are only 8 episodes of Dexter's fourth season left.  The good news is Dexter season 5 has been green-lit and the cast expect it to start shooting in May next year.

Of course, that means in 8 weeks we've got almost a year gap between Dexter's, and it's not going to be as easy as usual.

Julie Benz (aka Rita) has told Collider this season will leave us hanging with a cliffhanger that will change the series at its core.  I'm barely able to handle the gap between Dexter seasons as it is, but I struggle through mostly because each season is relatively self contained.  But a major cliffhanger that changes the series at its core?  That's going to be one tough, long season hiatus.

I'm a big fan of Dexter and so I'm happy to hear Showtime are producing an animated web series titled Dexter: Early Cuts.

Dexter: Early Cuts is going to be a 12 part series told in four one or two minute chapters. It will be built on the mythology of the live-action series.

The series will take Dexter fans deeper into understanding how Dexter perfected his slaying techniques, something all aspiring serial killers need to know. Lol!

Dexter: Early Cuts will premiere Oct. 25 on www.sho.com.
