Heat Vision Blog reports that Bradley Cooper has replaced Shia LaBeouf in Universal's Dark Fields.

Dark Fields tells the story of a down and out writer who, after a series of coincidences, finds and takes a top-secret drug (MTD-48) that makes him smarter, faster, more intuitive, and more charismatic. The result is he becomes more successful before discovering that there are lasting side effects that go with it, and begins to learn that his finding of the drug may not have been a coincidence at all and mysterious pursuers go after him.

The film has been likened to Fight Club and The Game which had me quite interested, mainly because Fight Club is an exceptional film. But when I heard LaBeouf had the lead role I lost interest. Watching LaBeouf on screen is like nails on a black board to me.

Cooper on the other hand is an excellent actor who is more than able to convince you he's both down and out and highly intelligent, and more than capable of holding the lead in a thriller along the style of Fight Club.

Dark Fields was scheduled for release in 2010 but no exact date has yet been confirmed.
