Magneto movie not looking likely

Whilst promoting the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on DVD and Blu-ray producer Lauren Shuler Donner has provided an update on all the future X-Men related films that are in the works.

Wolverine 2 is their priority movie and will have lots of kick-ass martial arts action.

X-Men: First Class will take its cue's from Harry Potter, doesn't have a finished script yet, and could end up being one of the best comic-to-film adaptations yet.

Deadpool wants to talk to the audience but it will require Fox to agree to it first, so the writers are working on how to make that happen as we speak.

But perhaps the biggest and, for some fans, the most depressing news is that X-Men Origins: Magneto is the last movie on the X-Men list right now.  In fact, it may not get made at all.  This is what Donner had to say:

"David Goyer has written a brilliant script. It starts in the concentration camps and has Magneto coming out of there. But you know, I'm not sure that film is going to be made. The studio has a wealth of potential stories, and they have to stand back and decide which ones to make. And Magneto, I think, is at the back of the queue. Maybe it'll get made in five years - who knows?"

Sounds like Magneto fans are going to luck out.

You can read all of Lauren Shuler Donner's commentary at Empire Mag, there's lots of it and it's well worth a read.
