Aint it Cool News are reporting two rumors sure to get DC Comic fans salivating.
The first is that Jackie Earle Haley, who played Rorschach in Watchmen and who is the new Freddy Kreuger in A Nightmare on Elm Street, is the frontrunner to score the role of the villain Sinestro in The Green Lantern movie. Sinestro is the arch-villain of the Green Lantern universe and the former mentor of Hal Jordan who, in the film, may start as his mentor (I don't really know).
Having Haley plays Sinestro is a big win, the guy is awesome (be sure to check him out in Fox's new series Human Target). But perhaps the biggest and best of the rumors is that Superman may be making a cameo in the film.
Why is a Superman cameo bigger and better than having Rorschach go up against Ryan Reynolds?
Well, if you're not into men who wear their jocks on the outside then it probably isn't. But, last month the head of DC Entertainment, Diane Nelson, told MTV that there were no plans for another Superman film. Now we're hearing there are, possibly, plans for Superman to grace the big screen again. I don't see much of a point in entertaining a Superman cameo unless it's leading to something, cough, like Justice League.
Of course, this is all rumor for now.
