Ridley Scott Says His Prequel to ‘Alien’ Will Take Place 30 Years Prior

Director Ridley Scott has confirmed that his upcoming prequel to Alien will take place roughly 30 years prior to the original film.
Scott told Empire:
“It’s a brand new box of tricks. We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”
The prequel marks the first time Ridley Scott has returned to the franchise since he directed the original 1979 Alien, but nothing else is known about the story at this stage.
