Forget stunt casting. This is closer to hunk casting.

TV Line confirms that White Collar star Matt Bomer is thisclose to finalizing a deal to appear on an April episode of Glee. In what capacity? The actor will reportedly come on board as... Blaine's older brother!

We can sort of see the resemblance:

Before Bomer stops by, of course, there will be plenty for fans to Gleek out over, starting this Tuesday with a Michael Jackson tribute hour. Darris Criss will play a major role on the installment, leading an impressive cover of "Wanna Be Startin Something."

Taub is bored by his children. House has a patient (Callie) he seems to relate to. Dr. Adams is self-righteous. And Foreman's affair comes to an end.

And other than those items, "Runaways" was for the most part a filler episode. If an episode is going to be a filler, it needs to be humorous. It can't rely on boring stories about Foreman and Taub that most viewers aren't all that interested in. Remember the season six episode, "The Down Low?" It's the one where Wilson is trying to date his neighbor and House pretends he and Wilson are gay so he can get the girl?

That one was a complete filler, but so hilarious and memorable! Don't waste the comedic potential, please. It's too vast.

A Free House

We didn't learn anything new tonight and the most positive thing I have to say about this episode is that I enjoyed the patient because she reminded me of other patients I liked. Remember the CIPA patient from "Insensitive," in season three? She couldn't feel any pain and jumped off the balcony in the lobby? She was spunky and fun and fought with her mother.

There was also the daughter from season four's "It's a Wonderful Lie." Also spunky. Also with mother issues. If there's anything that this show likes, it's teenage girls that have a little sass, which I can definitely appreciate. House certainly seemed to take a liking to this one. But why?

House always respects those people that make the harder choices he considers right. He tells Callie's mother, "Your daughter is better off without you. So let her be better off without you."

While Dr. Adams seems to disagree with this choice, House sees himself in the young girl. Or would like to. I also wonder if the writers had Cuddy leaving House in mind when they wrote this. Could be totally wishful thinking, but Cuddy left House in part because he couldn't handle real pain and was addicted to Vicodin. It was a tough choice, and in the writers' minds, the right choice to leave House and move forward. Doubt they would appreciate the Cuddy/patient homeless parallel, though (Cuddy's house is wrecked by House's car, patient chooses not to live anywhere...see? It's not a stretch at all). I digress.

During the rest of the episode, Taub returns with both of his Sophias and not much else. I'm glad he's learning to be a better father, but I think his airtime can be better spent. Perhaps be House making more short jokes? Although, without this storyline, we wouldn't have seen Chase's peek-a-boo.

And Foreman. Now that this so-called easy, breezy, risky relationship is over, he wants nothing to do with her? That's so...male. And so not Foreman from what we've seen. I'm not so sure I like that House considers him and Foreman to be similar people. How are they alike? Stubborn, smart, attractive...I'm out! If they take Foreman's need for risk somewhere, I'll be interested, but only if it goes somewhere other than another relationship.

Does that leave us with only more about the patient left? I'm having trouble finding depth in this episode. In the end, even though Callie knows her mother is sober now, she leaves, choosing her homeless life over the more painful one of dealing with her mother's (inevitable?) relapse, thus reinforcing House's continued mantra of "People don't change."

As far as next week's episode goes, you'll love it. I've seen it and it's by far the best of this season, which yes, I know, doesn't mean all that much to some of you, but it is format-breaking and informative and dramatic, pretty much the polar opposite of this week's. I'll be thrilled if they stick with the more serious tone and dig deep into House's psyche, something I feel has been lacking from the current season.

Same time, same place for next Monday.

UFC featherweight Dustin PoirierThe old saying “diamonds are a girl’s best friend and a man’s worst enemy” goes double for the UFC’s featherweight division because it’s their most dangerous competition. The shiniest and sharpest jewel of the resident 145ers cut a three fight win streak in 2011 that announced the presence of the weight class’ newest rising star. Whether they’re from Antwerp or Africa, the only allotrope of carbon fight fans need to know about is the one born, raised, and training to get meaner in Lafayette, Louisiana: Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier.

“I feel like I'm living a dream,” exudes Poirier about fighting in the UFC. “It is all happening so quick. I can feel myself getting better with every fight. It's incredible. I could not wish or want it any other way. It all unfolded perfectly this last year. I really got to show my skills and fans have gotten to see who I am and it's just amazing. It's a lot of hard work that is paying off. It really feels good at night to lie down and see it paying off.”

It was only a year ago that Poirier made his Octagon debut at UFC 125 with the one-sided standup beatdown of the top ranked Josh Grispi. The decision victory, which featured a few 10-8’s in favor of “The Diamond”, shocked MMA fans because previously Poirier was a 1-1 lightweight in the WEC and Grispi was in-line for a shot at UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Poirier returned to the cage in June with another exciting decision win over British striker Jason “Shotgun” Young. To bookend 2011, Poirier was to set face a fellow burgeoning 2-0 inside the Octagon standout in Pablo Garza on the undercard of UFC on FOX in November.

“I felt like it was going to be a step up in competition from my last fight,” admits Porier. “A real test. Pablo Garza had proven himself a couple of times with some big victories. I knew he was an unorthodox guy who was unpredictable, so I knew it was going to be a fun fight. I knew it was going to be a fast pace and I was excited to take a step up on the ladder in the weight division. I train hard always, but mentally I was prepared for as soon as the bell rang to start throwing punches. In my head, it was going to be 'Fight of the Night'. It was going to be a 15 minute war. I thought his standup was going to test mine and I thought his ground game was going to do the same. I thought it was going to be a back-and-forth great fight. I was mentally ready for 15 minutes of bleeding and battling.”

All of that sounds absolutely magical to a fight fan’s ears, but the actuality of the bout was probably Poirier’s shortest and most impressive win yet: a second round victory via D’arce choke. Make no mistake, Garza is a fearsome young fighter with standup and submissions that can beat most competitors. Regardless, Poirier controlled the action on the feet and on the ground early and showed a clear strength advantage that night. The night-ending choke came a little over a minute into round two, as Poirier showed off the grappling skills he’s honed wrestling with close friend, mentor, UFC middleweight, and BJJ black belt Tim Credeur.

“I've been competing in jiu-jitsu for a long time,” tells Poirier. “I've been a purple belt for over a year. I do a lot of gi jiu-jitsu. That's something I have shown in other fights, but not before in the UFC. I think in this next fight, I think I'm really going to show how well-rounded I am. I have wrestling, I have jiu-jitsu. It's just sometimes I get caught up in the battle standing. I'm a fighter and I really enjoy fighting. I enjoy getting into a slugfest sometimes. But I'm grinding those edges away and becoming more well-rounded with every fight. I'm finding the better balance between my aggression and my techniques. I think that takes a while for some guys to find that to click. I think I'm starting to come into my own there. I got lots more submissions and I know I'm capable of finishing the fight wherever it goes.”

At UFC 143, Poirier will enter the Octagon for the fourth time to face the end result of a revolving door of challengers ranging from the “who’s who” to simply “who”. Originally, Poirier was set to scrap with southpaw striker Erik Koch with his similarly stunning string of UFC scores. Koch had to pull out due to injury and was replaced by 2-0 in the UFC orthodox grappler Ricardo Lamas. In another unlucky twist of fate, Lamas was forced to withdraw due to an injury and will be relieved by the debuting orthodox kickboxer Max Holloway. Some fighters play it off like a switch in opponent is not a big deal, but Poirier is candid when he notes that they are major disruptions to him. But what never wavers going into every fight is how committed he is to succeeding.

“In my mind, it's real huge to me when things like that change because I am thinking about it so much,” admits Poirier. “I play the fights out in my head so many times. I think about this 24 hours a day from the time I wake up until the time I wake up again. I even dream about it. This is my life. This isn't a hobby or just a career I'm trying to be good at - this is everything. That's the fight game though. Guys are in training and they get hurt. With all the changes that are happening, the one thing that keeps my confidence up is the one thing that is consistent the whole time and that is me busting my ass and getting ready to fight. That hasn't changed. No matter who I fight, I'm out here every day grinding, getting ready to fight. At the end of the day, I'm a fighter and we're going to get into that cage, close the door and we're going to fight. That's something that hasn't changed.”

As for the UFC 143 bout itself, Poirier will play the role of the savvy veteran to the rookie in 20-year old Holloway. “I feel like the old guy now (laughs) and I just turned 23 last week,” jokes Poirier, who has been scouring the internet to find out as much as he can about his new opponent. “He's 4-0 as a professional, has six or seven amateur fights I think, and I think he has some kickboxing experience. I know Jeremy Stephens flew him out to San Diego to help him get ready for Anthony Pettis. Holloway kind of resembles Pettis a little bit with his kickboxing and his length, so he's a rangy fighter.”

Whether or not he knows much about his competition, Poirier’s rock is his coach, Credeur, and the gym, Gladiators Academy, where he polishes his diamond-like brilliant skills six days a week. Also, Poirier has been in this situation before with impromptu opponents, as his fight with Grispi was taken on short notice and Young was a substitute for previously scheduled Rani Yahya. On top of that, it was only twelve months ago that he was making his own debut as the underdog against a surging odds-on favorite. Where previous experience, abilities, and that fighter’s edge have helped him to victory, Poirier expects much of the same on this Super Bowl weekend.

“Every fight I get into 100%, it is intimate for me,” affirms Poirier. “I study the guy. I don't care if he has one fight or 100 fights, I'm in this fight 100%. He's a dangerous guy. He's 4-0. I'm not underestimating this guy. I'm training like I'm fighting Anderson Silva. I'm over here and I'm not taking him lightly. I know how that happens to people. Just a year ago, I was in his shoes. I was getting into the cage fighting Josh Grispi, no one knew who I was and I was supposed to get destroyed by a top ten guy. I went in there and I destroyed him. Nobody knew that was going to happen. He's over there training and he's thinking he is going to do the same thing to me. Knowing that I've taken that same walk in those shoes empowers me to be ready. For me, I have to go in there and fight smart. I know what he's going to do. I think what he does good, I'm better at. I have to go in there and capitalize on his mistakes. I'm 11-1 as a professional fighter, but this is my 22nd or 23rd mixed martial arts fight. I have a little bit of experience and I have to use it to capitalize on his mistakes when he makes them.”

This Saturday, “The Diamond” will meet the Hawaiian Holloway in the cage with the same seriousness reserved for a main event. “I want to show the fans that I'm coming in better with every fight and I'm growing with every fight,” states Poirier, who knows going 4-0 in the UFC by simply beating the opponents in front of him is what will get him to his ultimate goal: the UFC featherweight title. “I want to go in there and make a statement. I am for real no matter who I fight. I want to move up and take another step closer because I want to be a champion one day.”

A diamond is usually set in gold, but if this year is like Poirier’s last, then “The Diamond” might be wearing the gold.

bruce willis stars in the cold light of day trailer 78679 470 75 Bruce Willis stars in The Cold Light Of Day trailer

What do you get when you team up Superman with John McClane? A whole bucket-load of ass-whupping, that’s what… especially if you’re a cabal of shady government types who have kidnapped their family.

That’s the set-up (minus the Superman bit, obviously) in new action thriller The Cold Light Of Day, in which Henry Cavill’s family holiday is disrupted by the abduction of his mother and siblings. Fortunately, his old man (Willis) is still around, but unfortunately, he’s the one with all the enemies.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

To be honest, if Bruce Willis is your dad, you have to come to terms with the fact that a lot of people will want to kill him. Still, Cavill seems to adapt well enough, grabbing hold of the nearest gun and raising a little hell of his own.

Directed by JCVD helmer Mabrouk El Mechri, the film looks a little short of the Bourne-standard of secret service actioners, but Sigourney Weaver looks a pleasingly frosty presence in the Joan Allen ice queen mould. And we’ve always got time for Bruce Willis smashing heads through car windows…

The Cold Light Of Day opens in the UK on 6 April 2012.

A mocking of Kim Kardashian. Shared custody of a puppy. An intimate moment for Castle and Beckett. It's safe to say that last Monday's "An Embarrassment of Bitches" had it all.

Now, with a week off before Castle and company head to 1947, our Round Table team is here to debate a number of topics from the episode. Take it away Jim Garner, Molly Harper, Courtney Morrison and Chandel Charles...

-------------------------------------------

Were you surprised Beckett was considering getting a dog?
Jim: Not at all, she lives alone in New York. If she's not worried about her safety, she has to get lonely and want to talk to someone (or something).

Molly: Not really, Beckett is becoming more aware of how lonely she is, how empty her life is now that she isn't devoting all of her energy to her mother's case. She's going to look for ways to fill up that space.

Courtney: No, definitely not. Everyone needs a dog, even bad ass detectives like Kate Beckett. And like Jim mentioned, a female living alone in NYC with a dog isn't that bad of an idea.

Chandel: No, I think she is lonely and could use a companion. Plus she really seemed to like the retriever!

Castle RT Logo

Pick the right pet for both Castle and Beckett?
Jim:  Beckett strikes me as the Rottweiler type, something with muscles but brains and is extremely loyal. Castle, on the other hand, was in the right ballpark with a Retriever, loyal, playful and incredibly loving. Of course, the the best dog for Beckett is really the "RICKtriever" - am I right?

Molly: Beckett needs a cat, something low-maintenance that would be OK if she needed to be out of the apartment for long stretches of time. For some reason, I see Castle getting some exotic pet that would eventually cause huge problems for him, like an alligator or a tiger (despite the "trapped with a tiger" episode.) Maybe he'll install a full-sized supervillian shark tank in Alexis's room when she leaves for college.

Courtney: Agreed that a Retriever is perfect for Castle, that or something fun and silly like a little pug. Beckett could totally have a Bulldog - cute but tough if you need it to be.

Chandel: I think a dog would work well for both of them.

The sparks were flying when Castle touched Kate's hand.  So why did he pull back so quickly?
Jim:  I think you gave the answer to the question. Neither Kate not Rick know what to do when the emotions boil up like that. Had she said "Rick" instead of "Castle" I think he would have moved a different direction that backwards.

Molly: Kate will only tolerate so much intimacy before she starts hitting something.

Courtney: There is a lot of unspoken tension lately between these two. The man helping Castle with her mother's case has been brought back into the fold reminding him that he is going behind her back and the fact that she still hasn't addressed his "I love you" isn't helping. Plus he could probably see it in her face that she is feeling something and he doesn't want to mess it up.

Chandel: I have no idea! That was my favorite moment from the episode! You can tell just how strong the feelings are. It's almost like a bomb about to explode.

Esposito was sparring with Lanie, lusting after Kay and tackling suspects. What's your pick for the most memorable Esposito scene of the night?
Jim: My favorite was his reaction to Beckett mentioning that Kay was with Reggie.. His response was priceless, and I swear Stana Katic's reaction to him was not acting, it looked way to much like a real laugh.

Molly: Volunteering to sift through gossip rags and insisting that Kay couldn't possibly be interested in a back-up dancer from a music video.

Courtney: Espo was on fire. Every scene he had with Kay was pretty entertaining, especially when he was reviewing the pictures with her. His faces responding to the photos were great.

Chandel: I think when Kay got real with Esposito about the kind of life she wanted. For a moment he saw her as a more than just a celebrity, which I really liked.

What was your favorite scene overall?
Jim: I really liked Epso and Kay looking at her pictures. She was right that we judge celebrities by the pictures and it was nice to see she wasn't a vapid egotistical witch - that she had feelings and fears just like all of us. I think it would be interesting to see her and Espo hook up, would add an interesting twist for him to have a famous G/F for a bit.

Molly: I always love scenes with Alexis. The "meeting up with boys from Craigslist" line cracked me up.

Courtney: There were a lot of things to like about this episode, but my favorite by far is Beckett and Castle trying to convince the dog to come to each of them. It was something that felt real and not written. A close second goes to the first time Hilarie Burton opened her mouth as Kay. I was losing it and she was awesome in this part.

Chandel: Again, I have to go with the scene in Beckett's apartment when he rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. It was definitely packed with attraction that was so thick you could cut it with a knife!

andrew garfield talks spider man 78601 00 470 75 Andrew Garfield talks Spider Man

The press drive for The Amazing Spider-Man has finally started to click into gear with Andrew Garfield recently discussing the web-slinging reboot with The Times Of India, and the British star had some interesting things to say about the way he prepared for the role…

“There is the first kiss between Peter and his love interest, Gwen Stacy,” said Garfield when asked whether there were any iconic moments to look forward to. “I got to practise for that - although on my own, I must add! I practised kissing on my hand, arms and in the mirror. I was just hoping I'll remember how to kiss when the moment comes and not fumble.”

Nice to see the man has been putting the hours in. As for his efforts to understand the character, Garfield highlighted Spidey’s orphan status as one of the key components of his persona.

“I have tried to explore Peter Parker as an orphan,” says Garfield. "Orphans, I feel, are the strongest human beings on the planet. The amount of things they have to deal with in their lives is amazing.”

“I have tried to capture how Peter copes with the feelings of being an underdog, his confusions and his self-doubt ,” continues Garfield. “This, I hope, has brought a certain empathy and sensitivity to his character that helps him become the hero that he eventually turns out to be.”

So how will his Spidey compare to Tobey Maguire's incarnation? "I love the work that Toby did," says Garfield. "I've watched him in the earlier three movies as a fan and I feel that what he did was perfect. I would never even begin to compare myself with him, and I feel it's not the point either. This film is another chapter in the legacy of Spider-Man and my responsibility was to remain true to the core of the character . I've tried to do it as best as I could."

Big talk Andrew, but you did still admit to snogging your own arm. The Amazing Spider-Man opens in the UK on 4 July 2012.

Can Dexter Get Gellar?

Posted by Monkey 1 in: TV Shows

Dexter finally placed its main character in the center of the DDK action this week, airing an episode that concluded with Dexter teaming up with Travis in order to track down Gellar... and with a major question lingering over the series:

Does Gellar even exist?

It's growing more and more likely that this professor is merely Travis' warped version of Harry, a Dark Passenger along for the Apocalyptic ride. I've already made my feelings on this lame possibility known. Now, I'm asking fans to watch the official promo for Sunday's "Get Gellar" and then to chime in on the following poll.
