Stephan Bonnar (15-7) makes life as a fighter look so much easier than it is.

Perhaps it’s because he’s been deep in the water more times in his career than most guys get their whole lives. Perhaps it’s because he’s trained with the likes of Carlson Gracie and Sergio Penha, and that’s about as good as it gets when it comes to Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Perhaps it’s because he has come so close so often, only to see the opportunity slip through a judge’s decision, a ref’s stoppage or a nearly career ending knee injury, that he just knows better than to let things get to him.

Whatever the answer is, Stephan Bonnar is at peace as he goes into the cage to face tough Croatian Igor Pokrajac (22-7) Saturday in yet another TUF Finale, a place where he made his bones in the first place.

“I’m real comfortable fighting on big shows,” says Bonnar. “To fight on big cards means a lot to me, and let me tell you, that win against Krzysztof Soszynski in July on one of the biggest cards in UFC history is awesome. My heart was crushed over what happened in Australia and to have a happy ending to the whole Krzysztof saga is just great.”

Bonnar contested that TKO loss due to a doctor’s stoppage after suffering a head butt-induced cut against Soszynski at UFC 110, but he lost his appeal. It put him at three losses in a row, and Bonnar had to endure those nagging questions from fans and media about retirement.

“I was in no way ready to retire, and now I’m going into this fight riding a high. I’m training at One Kick’s Gym, I’m eating like a horse and I feel great. I feel like I’m on top of my game,” he said. “It really got to me having to read all of those ‘Stephan’s done’ stories on the Internet. I’m not done.”

Could it be just a coincidence then, that just as Bonnar is poised to announce his return to his former self and make another run at the light heavyweight title that it’s going to happen on a TUF Finale, or could there be something in the air? Bonnar’s coming full circle to the place that put him on the MMA map seven years ago at the first TUF Finale, where his epic bout against Forrest Griffin still lives on in UFC lore.

It’s a whole different side of the fence for his opponent. A protégé of Mirko Cro Cop, Pokrajac is looking at this fight against Bonnar as one to make a statement in, and Bonnar is determined not to be his UFC stepping stone.

“He’s throws hard punches and he’s got a good gas tank, so I can’t stand around and get him by him. I don’t think too much of his top game on the ground but he’s got a good guard. I haven’t seen anybody do too much damage to him on the ground. But I’m ready in all areas of the fight game right now. I’m better at striking. I’m better at submissions. I might even be a better wrestler. My camp has really clicked. I’m putting in the work and we have a pretty good game plan working,” he said.

Bonnar loves being a fighter, but he says there’s life outside of fighting, and he loves being creative. His company NGauge is his outlet for that creativity. NGauge started out a high quality artwork endeavor, but he and his partner just might be on to the next big thing in MMA inspired clothing.

“Trash Talking Kids,” says Bonnar, “T shirts inspired by Josh Koscheck’s constant running of his mouth. I mean, he talked so much trash to Paul Daley the guy sucker-punched him after the fight. And then, when he could have won over the entire Canadian crowd, he continues to talk trash and insult their hockey team and GSP. I was laughing so hard and just thought, ‘what if there were trash talking T’s,’ and the idea was born. I’m going to wear the American Whacko shirt Saturday,” he says.

Bonnar says he can see his new line appealing to men, women and children, but he says it’s not about the money, but the outlet.

“It’s nice to have something else to think and talk about than just fighting, fighting, fighting all the time,” he said. “I mean, I know guys who train for their fights, then fight, then just talk and talk about fighting, and that’s fine, that’s their thing. I like to use my brain in different ways, creative ways.”

Fighting isn’t easy,” he continues. “It’s hard to go and train every single day. You’re sore. You’re battered and bruised. And you’ve got to get up every day and hit the gym. You have to put the work in. And if you have nothing else in your life, for me at least, it drives you crazy.”

Bonnar, 33, and his wife of two years, Andrea, are thinking about kids, but right now they’ve got their hands full with new puppies that their Pomeranian Pugsley gave birth to in August.

“We’re getting real good practice taking care of the puppies, and they’re definitely a handful,” says Stephan. “Pugsley had three pups and it’s been fun watching them grow from little hamster looking things into actual dogs,” he says.

And while Bonnar may be more interested in talking about anything but fighting, don’t be fooled into thinking he’s not focused on the task at hand.

“Oh no, definitely not,” he said. “I’m ready for Igor. I’m coming off some poetic justice. I’m hungrier than ever right now. It’s going to be a war, so get ready.”

The breakout stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey have scored their own bachelor pad as well as a spinoff show on Bravo.

Barely a day goes by when some new Ghostbusters 3 rumour doesn't hit the web.

But this one comes from the horse's mouth (sort of). Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Dan Aykroyd recently confirmed some casting news via an interview on WGN Radio Chicago.

Aykroyd admitted that Bill Hader and Anna Faris have been mentioned as strong possibilities, although apparently nothing is close to official yet. We could definitely imagine them fitting in and nailing the required tone.

The Ghostbusters writer and actor also brought up Eliza Dushku's (Buffy, Dollhouse) name, so perhaps they're planning to have an ass-kicking team member along with the funny faces.

Aykroyd also apparently confirmed the long-running, on-and-off rumour that Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver will be returning.

The rumour mill has been churning so long on this now that some kind of official announcement surely can't be too far off.

Nothing says true love quite like a knife through the heart.  When Lumen (Julia Stiles) emerged wearing her full murderer garb, complete with the shiny new gloves Dexter (Michael C. Hall) lovingly bought for her, it marked a turning point in their relationship.  "You look perfect," Dexter tells her, and we can't really argue with him.

That's because, despite the inevitable backlash that is sure to come from those fans securely in Rita's camp, Lumen is the only person in five seasons who has completely accepted Dexter for who he is.  Arguably, she's the first person he has ever truly loved, because she sees him and doesn't turn away.  I was weary of this development from the moment Lumen was introduced, but the way it was handled was close to perfect.  We can see it in the way Dexter looks at her throughout 5.10.  She's not just his partner anymore, she's his soulmate.

Whether or not you like this development, it does raise really interesting questions as to how the writers will carry this out.  I can't see them killing Lumen after what they did to Rita.  Yet I can't exactly see her sticking around either.  What do you think?  Is this more future heartbreak for Dexter?  Or could this really be a permanent transformation, one in which Dexter finally accepts himself (for better or worse)?

There were plenty of other great scenes and twists throughout, including the DNA standoff with Jordan Chase (Jonny Lee Miller).  Dexter is at its best when the subtext meter is at full volume, the not-so-thinly veiled threats darting through the air.  The mislead of the kill room was also a fine moment of tension, for as much as we knew it probably wouldn't happen, a part of us really wanted to see Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) burst in as that knife came down.  It's the money shot of the whole series, a foreshadowing tease that reminded us of what inevitably has to come.

And how about that sick relationship between Jordan and Emily?  Not only was it a nice surprise, but it really made me curious as to the possible psychology going on here.  Is this a Stockholm Syndrome thing?  Or is it something even more twisted?  There's still something about the whole "band of brother torturers" that bothers me, some element of unbelievability at its core.  (And what was Emily counseling them for?)  But I've come to accept it as the baseline for a somewhat below average season, at least in terms of what I've come to expect from Dexter.  And what happened to the entire black magic killings subplot?

Much of Season Five's success, of course, relies on the final two episodes to come.  While Deb closes in on Lumen, Robocop closes in on Dexter...yet Dexter will be misled into believing it's Quinn (Desmond Harrington).  Will Quinn make it out of this season alive?  How will the writers make sure it's not just another Doakes retread? Most likely Quinn will be spared.  I hope so, because his transformation to being able to let go of his pursuit of Dexter finally gave him the depth as a character he needed.

"We both met each other at the right time," Dexter tells Lumen.  Maybe.  But it could also turn out to be the worst time possible.  That's the beauty of this show over the years, we really can't guess where the end of each season will end up.  All we know for certain is that the body count will multiply.

Back in June, we told you that the next project for District 9 director, Neill Blomkamp would be an original Sci-Fi film entitled, Elysium. Blomkamp has said that Elysium is absolutely another science fiction film, quite different from District 9, but some of the blending of genres and the tone might be within the same realm.

Now, in the latest iPad edition of Wired Magazine, a strange video appears, and it’s only credited as “Video by Neill Blomkamp.” The video could be a viral video for Elysium, or it could simply be a project that Blomkamp made for his own amusement, and to mess with the minds of the readers of Wired’s iPad edition. One thing that would detach this video from being part of Elysium is the following comment that Blomkamp make about the proposed project:

“I’ve got one science fiction idea that I’m absolutely in love with, which I’m pretty sure is going to be my next film. 99% sure…It’s totally original, it’s my own story…It’s set on another planet, but it’s cool. It’s violent, very violent, and very unique hopefully. We’ll see.”

This video definitely appears to be not only on Earth but in the United States as well, and not set on another planet as he alludes to in the quote above.

Peter over at /Film did some digging into the name AGM Heartland which is stamped on the creature in the video. He learned that a company called Sable Productions Ltd. recently filed to trademark the name, under the category below:

“Entertainment services by way of an online website with video, audio and textual content and images featuring characters and storylines about a fictional genetic engineering company that produces genetically engineered and altered organisms.”

Now, either this is the beginning of an elaborate viral campaign for a film, or based on the language in the trademark filing, Blomkamp may be simply bringing a totally different project directly to the web.

As the 2010 holiday season kicks off, UFC welterweight Johny Hendricks (9-0) has a lot to be thankful for. His daughter Abry turned one in November, and a move to Arlington, Texas to train full time with Marc Laimon at Cobra Kai Jiu Jitsu has been a positive all around.

“The family is doing great,” says Hendricks. “Since we moved to Texas it’s been easier on them. My wife Christina and daughter get to see my parents and her parents at least once a month. I’ve actually been training better since we moved.”

And that’s a good thing. Hendricks faces Rick Story (11-3) at The Ultimate Fighter Finale on December 4th live on Spike TV. Story’s won his last four fights, TKO’ing Dustin Hazelett on the same UFC 117 show where Hendricks finished a game Charlie Brenneman 40 seconds into the second round. Fans should expect fireworks when these two meet.

“He’s the same type of fighter as me; he wants to go out banging and standing up,” said Hendricks. “When you look at his style and mine it’s going to be whoever can win the standup battle. He does like to bang, likes to get people up against the fence, take them down and do some ground and pound. I’m just the opposite. If the takedown is there naturally I’ll take it, but I’m not looking for it. I’m looking to finish the fight.”

Hendricks is undefeated in his professional fight career, but he says he learned a long time ago not to rest on his laurels. It was the 2009 NCAA national wrestling championship tournament and Johny was 56-0 going into the finals match with Iowa State’s Mark Perry. Perry upset the two time national champion by a score of 4-3.

“Like I always say, anyone can be beat at anytime. Back then, I got to the stage where I thought I couldn’t be beat. I couldn’t be beat, and then it happened,” says Hendricks. “And that’s when I took a step back and said don’t worry about records or rankings. You have one goal and in wrestling that’s to be the national champion. I fell one match short of that my senior year, but, the fight game I’m zero-zero every fight, until I hit the spot I want to hit. And that’s to be the UFC champion. That’s my whole goal. But honestly each fight I’m fighting to stay in the UFC. That’s the way I look at, ‘if I lose this match I might get cut,’ so I go in there every time fighting for my life.”

Hendricks says had he won that match with Perry he would have likely gone on to wrestle in the Olympics, and he may have skipped MMA altogether.

“I had a lot of opportunities to do other things, but I would probably be a wrestling coach somewhere,” he says.

For Johny Hendricks, God had other plans.

“After that match I prayed about it, and asked ‘what do You want me to do?’ And then my manager called me and said ‘do you want to try fighting,’ and all of a sudden it was like ‘boom,’ I’m in the fight game and I love it. MMA for me is what I was made to do. When I step in the cage I get to release my true inner self, because whenever I’m in there I feel like I can be a warrior and someone who loves doing something that a lot of people don’t. I didn’t think that I would like it as much as I have been.”

Hendricks enjoys fighting so much he’s actually known as “The Happy Beard Guy” after running around the Octagon in Philadelphia smiling ear-to-ear after knocking out Amir Sadollah at UFC 101. The beard has become a conversation piece for the Oklahoma born and bred fighter, and it’s easier for fans to notice him.

“It’s great that I’m on the main card and more people will get to see me,” he said. “I fight for myself but it’s great to have followers, because the more people who are backing me the better I’m going to fight.”

As for the beard, he says Laimon’s to blame.

“The reason I started the beard, I was letting it grow and I didn’t want to shave,” he said. “It was before the Alex Serdyukov fight in the WEC. And Marc asked me why did you let it grow so long, and I said whenever I look at myself I feel like crap. I look like crap. And I know I’m preparing for something, you know what I mean?  And after that fight I shaved it off and Marc was like, ‘why’d you shave it off? You should have left it.’ I shaved it because I did what I had to do. Win or lose it had to come off because I knew that I could finally relax. But from here on out, I’ll always have the beard when it comes to fighting, just because Marc didn’t want me to shave it off.”

Hendricks says his weight cut has gone better than ever this time around, and he says he’s eating right for the first time in his career.

“You don’t put low octane gas in a Ferrari,” he said. “You’ve put the best fuel in that car. So that’s the way I’m looking at my body now. I’m putting in the good fuel and it helps me train better, helps me heal faster so I can get back to training.”

When Hendricks steps into the Octagon on December 4th, he knows he’s going to have his work cut out for him, but he also knows to be the best, he’s got to be beat the best.

“It’s a good matchup for both of us. We’re both coming up. We’re both talented. We’re both going to go out there and put on a good show and whoever wins the fight is one step closer to his goal. For me that’s to be the UFC champion. That’s my whole goal. It doesn’t matter who is in front of me, I just know that I have to keep getting better and get one step closer to my goal and whoever they throw in front of me, I have to overcome.”

This week’s episode of Boardwalk Empire may not have been the most thrilling, but it was definitely the most unsettling.

Following the business-centered episode of last week, “Paris Green” focused more on the personal relationships and the simmering tensions between family members and lovers. It was great to finally see some climaxes to the arguments that have been building all season long.

Most important was the fight between Margaret and Nucky. After Annabel loses all her money when Harry steals it from her floorboards (so funny to hear him bemoan the loss of his money in the original Ponzi scheme!), she naturally comes to Nucky for help.

He gives what he can and she offers to “thank” him in the only she knows how. Although he declines, he seems keen to keep the offer in mind; and that is when Margaret makes her presence known. She tells Annabel, “Mr. Thompson’s gift is to never forget who owes him what.”  Later on, he tries to explain, but she cannot hold her silence any longer.

She confronts him with all her doubts since meeting with Van Alden. A big fight ensues in which both of their secrets are exposed: his involvement in her husband’s death and her secret douching to avoid having a baby. Nucky listens to her accusations, but has one of his own to make: “You make a little noise now and then to remind me what a good person you are. But a good person wouldn’t be here right now.”

He leaves angrily, and when he returns she has already left the apartment. It was a short fight, but not one lacking in devastation or cruelty.

Following this fight, Nucky has another confrontation with his brother. Eli is convinced that his sibling has put everyone at risk by exposing too much to Margaret. Nucky responds with a cutting remark about Houdini’s brother that really hits at his brother’s insecurity: “If he wasn’t Houdini’s brother, nobody would give a fuck.”

Afterwards, Nucky makes the decision we all knew he would and replaces Eli with Deputy Halloran for the office of Sheriff. This may have some serious repercussions for Nucky in the future, but it was definitely a long time coming.

Jimmy gets a call about his dying father, the Commodore (not Supervisor Elliott, as I had previously suspected). Although he visits the man, he still holds a grudge for the terrible situation his mother was put in by the Commodore, and apparently by Nucky. And it seems like Gillian does, too.

When she was just thirteen, the Commodore was impressed by her performance and had Nucky procure her. She was left thirteen and pregnant with only Nucky to help her out. She started to communicate and meet up with the Commodore in his old age, but only to slip him arsenic to speed up his demise. Jimmy finds out about it when he gets very sick after eating a cookie and then has the Commodore’s hair tested.

He’s a very quick young man and immediately confronts his mother. Surely, he won’t get her into any trouble, but what was most interesting about this whole encounter was the focus on Nucky. The Commodore tells him that the wrong man is running the town, and after talking to his mother, I’m inclined to think Jimmy might agree. He’s had his doubts about Nucky recently, and he might decide that the elder Treasurer might not be cut out for his job. But this probably won’t come out until next season.

Quite possibly the most disturbing moment of the night was between Agents Sebso and Van Alden. After his disappointment with the ruling last week, Van Alden has continued to question his partner.

Despite his best efforts, and a random trip to a baptismal service by the river, Sebso cannot win back his partner’s trust and decides to transfer. In a last ditch effort to gain some ground with Van Alden, he returns to the baptismal site. When Van Alden offers to baptize him, he cautiously accepts.

However, Van Alden repeatedly dunks him in the water, frantically demanding that he confess his sins. Eventually, Sebso drowns and Van Alden emerges from the water holding his gun and badge to the sky. Creepy, scary, and exactly what we’ve come to expect from Van Alden.

It’s with heavy hearts that we find ourselves reporting that Leslie Nielsen has died aged 84.

The Canadian actor, who had us crying with laughter with his many varied comedy roles, passed away after suffering from a case of pneumonia.

Nielsen spent the past 12 days at the Ft. Lauderdale Hospital, and his condition took a turn for the worse over the weekend.

“With his friends and his wife, Barbaree, by his side, he fell asleep and passed away,” said Doug Nielsen, the actor’s nephew.

Nielsen is perhaps best known to an entire generation as bumbling detective Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun movies, though his turn in Airplane! earned him the moniker “the Olivier of spoofs”.

Starting out in the 1950s, Nielsen also earned acclaim as a serious actor with his role in The Poseidon Adventure.

Rest in peace, buddy.
